Jon McEachran was the founder and CEO of VIP Inc. (Vidal Street Industrial Park Inc) in Sarnia, Ontario Canada. He started the company in 2005 and continued on until 2018 after he sold it to Alpenglow LLC. His company of 40 employees provided industrial rail, trucking and warehousing services to several multinational companies including Exxon Mobil and Shell Canada. VIP grew over the years from a simple railcar storage and switching facility to more complex operations including the transloading of several different types of hazmat liquids and value-added services such as tankcar repair and cleaning. Jon was honoured to win the 2010 Young Entrepreneur Award and the 2014 Large Business of the year Award from the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.
After leaving VIP, Jon began to diversify his portfolio and invest in many projects. He started Stag Island Investments where he has enjoyed helping investors start new ventures, obtain mortgages and giving businesses the tools they need to take the next step into the future.
Jon has remained active in the community and works hard to give back. In 2006, at the age of 28, he became one of the youngest people ever elected to Sarnia’s City Council. Jon spent 8 years serving the community on City Council. While there, he served on the city’s Environmental Advisory Committee, and as member of the board of directors for the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) and the Lambton Area Water Supply System (LAWSS) board. In 2014, a year after starting another company, Dockside Industrial Park Inc., Jon chose not to run for re-election, opting instead to invest more of his time on his businesses and his family. Jon continues to volunteer, working closely with local municipalities, members of parliament and in 2017 he joined the board of directors at the Chamber of Commerce. He is also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteers with their weekly youth programs.
Jon earned an Associate’s degree in Political Science from BYU-Idaho in 2000. In 2002 he graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Science in Political Science and a Certificate in International Relations.
Jon and his wife Jeanette have five beautiful children.
